SIMD Most Deprived Communities

SIMD Most Deprived Communities

Where We Work in Stirling — Targeting Communities with Greatest Need

At Coach My Sport, we prioritise delivering high‑quality physical development programmes in neighbourhoods where children face the greatest social and economic barriers. Using the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD), we identify small neighbourhoods (“data zones”) with higher levels of relative disadvantage.

Here’s a breakdown of the priority areas in Stirling, along with the primary schools serving those communities — helping you see where our programmes can make the biggest difference.

📌 SIMD data is area‑based and shows neighbourhood-level relative deprivation, not individual circumstances. Nonetheless, these areas are widely used by public bodies, funders, and local authorities when targeting resources to support children and families better.

📍 SIMD‑Identified Priority Communities in Stirling

🟦 Raploch & Cornton — Stirling North

These communities contain some of the most deprived data zones in Stirling — with parts ranked among the most deprived 5–10% in Scotland.

Primary Schools in this Area:

  • Raploch Primary School

  • Cornton Primary School

  • Riverside Primary School

  • Allan’s Primary School

These schools serve children living in neighbourhoods with higher relative deprivation, making them strong priority locations for programme delivery.

🟪 Cultenhove & St Ninians East — Stirling West / East

Parts of Cultenhove and St Ninians lie within SIMD’s higher relative deprivation bands.

Primary Schools in this Area:

  • St Ninians Primary School

  • Borestone Primary School

  • Braehead Primary School

  • Cambusbarron Primary School

These schools are positioned in communities where Coach My Sport can support foundational physical development — especially where access to structured activity is otherwise limited.

🟫 Bannockburn, Cowie, Fallin & Plean — Bannockburn Ward

Several small towns and villages in the Bannockburn area contain data zones in the 10–20% most deprived; these communities benefit greatly from targeted early movement programmes.

Primary Schools in this Area:

  • Bannockburn Primary School

  • Cowie Primary School

  • Plean Primary School

  • Fallin Primary School

🧠 Why Linking to Schools Matters

By aligning priority data zones (from the SIMD) with the local primary schools that serve them, we can:

  • Make sponsorship opportunities location‑specific

  • Help partners understand exactly where children live and learn

  • Offer delivery that’s community‑centred, visible and accountable

  • Demonstrate measurable impact in areas with social inequality and access challenges
